History

Inaugurated in September 2016, SICHH was born with the objective to bridge the gap between private and public actors and take together the challenges related to Human Health.

Where it all started

It all started back in 2012, when Cardinal closes. The Canton Fribourg decides to turn the former brewery into an innovation quartier. After calling for attractive concepts to take up the space, the idea of creating a competence center focused on human health challenges was born.

Imagined by the University of Fribourg and the Fribourg Cantonal Hospital and hosted in blueFACTORY, SICHH was developed to foster innovation and support public and private actors in their research and development projects. As a bridge to the private and public sectors, SICHH is uniquely positioned to support the innovation stakeholders to continue develop and improve products and technologies.

Prospering

2013 – the future non-‐for profit limited liability company is getting outlined and first academic partners show interest in joining the center as shareholders. Mai 2014 was marked by the acceptance of the Grand Counsel to support SICHH in its starting phase. SICHH and Smart Living Lab will become the flagships entities for blueFACTORY SA.

By the end of 2015, the center moved to its new location in the Halle Bleue, hosting its future facilities and offices. World-‐renowned industrial companies will join SICHH as official industrial partners and will equip the five facilities.

Launched officially in September 2016, SICHH operates today in multiple markets within Switzerland and abroad with a wide range of tailor-‐made scientific solutions.
