Biocompatibility Testing

New Materials and Treatments for Implantology

Biocompatibility is an essential subject for companies working in implantology field and it is regulated by the ISO norms 10993. Certified laboratories perform tests according to the ISO requirements mostly at the end of production steps. However, preliminary checks are highly suitable in order to face and solve problems directly related to critical development phases.

Key tasks:

  • Identification and quantification of potential degradation products
  • Physical and chemical characterization
  • Morphological and topographical characterization of materials
  • Toxicity tests (genotoxicity and cytotoxicity in vitro)
